Scuff Gel – Blend & Plastic Prep Gel

Like90 Scuff Gel for Paint and Plastic cleans, abrades and degreases all in one step. Use this high-performance gel with a gold or white scuff pad when prepping plastic parts or blend areas. This versatile product meets the toughest VOC standards (< 25 g/l) and can be used a number of ways in the shop:

• Plastic bumper prep: A simplified process with better, faster results. Eliminates the need to pre-bake new unprimed plastic bumpers and other time-consuming steps. Increases paint adhesion while reducing the amount of labor required to prepare plastic for paint.

• Wet-scuffing panels for water-borne blends: Faster, more comprehensive abrasion without any blend scratches. Cleans and degreases while making your scuff pad more effective and efficient. Rinses off completely without leaving any residue to compromise paint adhesion.

• Degreasing when dry-sanding blends. Use before or after dry sanding of blend areas for superior degreasing performance compared to other low-VOC degreasing options.

Directions for Use – New Unprimed Plastic:
1. Blow loose dust and dirt from the surface to be prepped.
2. Dampen with water the scuff pad you would normally use for the surface you are prepping.
3. Apply 2 – 4 ounces of Scuff Gel to scuff pad or directly to the plastic part.
4. Thoroughly abrade the part in much the same way you would with a scuff pad alone. Use Scuff Gel with a detail brush to abrade cracks, crevices and hard-to-reach areas in the part. Do not let surface dry before rinsing.
5. Scrub and rinse surface thoroughly with clean water. Make sure that all residue is removed.
6. Plastic part should appear uniformly clean and abraded. If not, repeat above process on any areas you have missed.
7. Continue with your normal paint process.
